Job Summary

The Coast Salish Employment and Training Society (CSETS) in Partnership with W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council are seeking an enthusiastic person to be part of each of our teams.

The WILNEW Employment Assistance Services (EAS) Officer / W̱SÁNEĆ Administrative Assistant will provide a variety of administrative services and services that supports the diverse needs of our members, clientele, and Service Canada that relate to employment and training.

Description

Duties:

  • Have effective and pleasant oral communication skills in dealing with the public, telephone calls and incoming visitors
  • Have knowledge of office routines and operating office equipment (fax, photocopier)
  • Answer the telephone, take messages and record in the daily log
  • Greet and ensure all visitors/clients are announced and directed to the appropriate departments
  • Check mail and record the daily incoming correspondence (mail, fax)
  • Order supplies when necessary and check supplies when deliveries are made
  • Keep receptionist office in clean, business-like appearance
  • Have ability to adhere to principles of confidentiality in respect to sensitive and confidential issues that each organization deals with
  • Have ability to work independently and with a team
  • Minute taking of committee meetings and filing
  • Interview the need of the Employment Assistant Services (EAS) clients
  • EAS applications; draft letters of approval/non approval for signature
  • Disbursement of cheques and correspondence
  • Record keeping of “Participant Information Forms” and “Client Tracking” closing of client files
  • Work with Coast Salish Employment and Training Society finance to ensure payments are being made
  • Provide direct services, such as one-to-one support, and goal development for clients within the WILNEW Region.
  • Assess barriers to employment/education and assist clients with job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing resumes and preparing for job interviews.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and experience with First Nations employment issues.
  • Knowledge and experience with Educational institutes, organizations, and their training programs within the WILNEW Region
  • Strong case management skills and knowledge of integrated case management processes.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet researching skills; and database familiarity.
  • Have effective and pleasant oral communication skills in dealing with the public, telephone calls and incoming visitors
  • Have knowledge of office routines and duties including operating office equipment, filing, answering phones, checking mail, ordering supplies, and recording in the daily log phone calls, messages, visitors, mail, deliveries, minute taking etc.
  • Have ability to adhere to principles of confidentiality in respect to sensitive and confidential issues that the organization deals with. Be willing to sign and adhere to the organizations oath of confidentiality document.
  • Able to work independently and within a team environment

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in services related to employment training or client supports
  • Produce a copy of a valid driver’s license
  • Reliable vehicle is required
  • Provide a Criminal Records Check
