Job Title:                   Childcare Officer

 Reports to:                Executive Director

 Summary:

  •  3 days a week (7hr a day x 3days a week  =21hrs)
  • Promotes: Coast Salish Employment and Training Society, Indigenous Job, Strategy, and Sub-contracts of the ISETS.
  • Works as part of overall CSETS team.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee Early Learning Childcare Budget and the Childcare & Enhancement Budget. Prepares financial forecast based on approved sites, prepares payment schedule, initiates payments when deemed appropriate, recommending when required the termination or suspension of payments and the initiation of special audits.
  • Ensures contracts are done annually with Childcare Centers for funding.  Assess and make recommendations on proposals presented for funding by ensuring all proposals satisfy administrative and legal requirements as set out by Service Canada.  Ensuring contracts are signed before the beginning of the New Year.
  • Ensures quarterly and year-end reports are submitted annually, and negotiates, where necessary, solutions to any variances with Childcare Centers.
  • Conducts site visits on a quarterly basis according to the requirements of the monitoring plan to ensure contract compliance.
  • Ensures policies are being met and abided with regards childcare regulations.
  • Assists CSETS Communities in the development of applications and proposals for new Childcare sites.
  • Meets with Childcare Committee, Childcare Managers and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Development and maintaining a First Nation Childcare Resource booklet.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Certificate/Degree in Early Learning Childcare, or 2 years of experience in the related field. 

Requirements: 

  • Microsoft word, excel, and outlook.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients and the general public.
  • Good understanding of Coast Salish Culture
